Evidently, the motorcyclist and the other motorist were both heading south on the highway when the motorist crossed three lanes of traffic and collided with the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was immediately taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The police conducted a brief investigation and determined that the motorist was at fault for the accident. The investigating officer told reporters that it looked as though the motorist tried to make a last-minute turn off the highway by crossing all three lanes of traffic at once, but they failed to see the motorcyclist. The motorist was issued a citation for failing to yield to the motorcyclist.
